New Delhi: Monsoons have intensified across the country. While it's good news for farmers, monsoons do come with their own bag of troubles. Many parts of Gujarat are flooded. Balagam village in Junagarh district has been severely affected. Water logging has brought life to a stand still though the local administration claims it is prepared to tackle any eventuality.
For Delhi, rains brought some relief. The national capital recorded 8.1 mm of rainfall Sunday, bringing temperature down to 32.8 degrees Celsius, a degree below normal for this time of the year. But as always, rains also left several areas waterlogged and roads blocked leading to traffic jams.
Heavy rains in Mumbai too. Local train services were disrupted after a wall at the Sandhurst road station collapsed. No casualties were reported and now work is on to clear the track.
Haryana flood toll reaches 35
Two more deaths were reported from Haryana's flood-hit Yamunanagar district taking the casualty toll to 35 in the state, even as the situation there improved following considerable fall in water-level at the Hathnikund barrage.
The water-level, which had risen to 90,000 cusecs Saturday, was down to 30,000 cusecs at the Hathnikund barrage Sunday evening, Yamunanagar Deputy Commissioner, Ashok Sangwan said.
"There is no cause for panic. The water discharge is down today considerably after we opened both the western and eastern ends of the canal," he said. There had been no heavy rainfall in the district since noon yesterday though there have been some intermittent showers.
"We continue to keep a watch on the situation and review it at short intervals of time. We would like to assure that as of now there is no cause for panic," he said.
Sangwan, however, said that two flood-related deaths had been reported from the district. The victims were identified as Sheela Devi (40) of Ganauli village and Liyaqat Ali (36) of Nayagaon, taking the toll in the district to nine.
Ambala, Kurukshetra, Sirsa and Fatehabad were among the worst-affected districts due to the recent floods. Sangwan said there was no disruption in vehicular traffic, dismissing reports that a national highway had been closed to traffic.
Two more die in UP due to heavy rains

While a child was killed and his mother injured after the roof of their house collapsed in Mahauli area of Sitapur district, one death was reported from Bijnore since Saturday, official sources said.
