ALUVA: The 12-day ‘Nada Thurappu Maholsavam’ at the Thiruvairanikulam Mahadeva Temple, popularly known as the ‘Sabarimala of Women’, will begin on Sunday.  According to the temple authorities, elaborate arrangements have been made to celebrate the 12-day festival. The uniqueness of the temple is that the doors of the sreekovil of the Sree Parvathy Devi will be kept open during this festival only. A colourful procession carrying the ‘Thiruvabharanam’ of the Devi will mark the beginning of the festival. The holy ornaments will be taken to the temple from Akavoormana, accompanied by thousands of devotees at 4 pm on Sunday. The sreekovil of the Devi will be open for the darsan from 4.30 am to 1.30 pm and from 4 pm to 8.30 pm on the festival days.The devotees will be served ‘annadanam’ during the festival, while the offerings and vazhipadu can be booked at the booking counters. The Umamaheswara gold lockets weighing 2 gm, 4 gm and 8 gm will also be available from the Devaswom office. KSRTC will operate special services from Aluva, Perumbavoor, Angamaly, Chalakudy and Ernakulam. More private buses will also ply during the festival.
