CHENNAI: The city police registered a case against three Nigerian prisoners on remand after they allegedly attacked a jail warder at the Central Prison at Puzhal on Wednesday.Police said Dikson (35), Michael Odimnaka (36) and Paul Ofagac Cyril (40) were in a cell in Prison II for prisoners on remand. On Wednesday morning, warder Kriba had called them for a regular roll call which they refused, police sources said and added that later when another warder Arokiyam asked them to come out for lunch, they refused to budge. The warder allegedly forced them out of the cell for lunch, when they pushed the official away and attacked him. Following a complaint from Jailor Senthil Kumar, the Puzhal police registered a complaint against the three under IPC section 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty). Police said Dikson has been in prison since December 2011 in connection with a cheating case while the other two Nigerians were remanded in November 2011 in two separate cases filed under The Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act).
