Sivaganga,(TN): Asserting that funds would not be a constraint for flood relief works in Tamil Nadu, Finance Minister P Chidambaram has said that the Centre would sanction the relief amount sought by the state government.
After visiting Chennai on Sunday night, he said that the relief work undergoing in the state would be followed by rehabilitation work.
The Centre has already sanctioned Rs 500 crore while the state government has released Rs 250 crore from its calamity relief fund.
Chidambaram said that he had instructed officials that political considerations should not come in the way of relief work.
On Sunday, he visited Karaikudi, Sakkotai, Tirupattur and Kallal areas and heard the plight of flood victims and instructed officials to take necessary steps to mitigate their sufferings.
