Renowned cartoonist and writer Bruce Petty is arriving in the city on Friday. An Oscar winner for animation in 1977, Petty is here to deliver the C Achutha Menon Foundation Lecture at 11.30 pm on Friday at Centre for Management Development (CMD). The programme is jointly organised by C Achutha Menon Foundation and Centre for Comic Arts. Prof K Raman Pillai will chair the function.
On Saturday, Petty will address the delegates during the conclusion of an academic seminar on comic arts at Achutha Menon Centre Hall.
Petty will also conduct a class for high school students as part of a workshop on animation movies organised by IT@School. The class will be held at Kanakakkunnu Palace on Saturday. Shashi Tharoor MP, K Muraleedharan MLA and cartoonists E P Unni, P V Krishnan, T K Sujith, among others, will attend the programme. The workshop will be held between 10.30 am and 5 pm.
Eighty-three-year-old Petty is also a graphic social scientist and travel writer. He currently works for ‘The Age’ in Melbourne, Australia.
