The app for the Windows platform includes all the usual photo filters, but it lacks the ability to upload videos.

New Delhi: Having made users wait for a long time, Instagram has finally announced its app for Windows Phone. Users can visit the Windows Phone Store and download the app.

The app for the Windows platform includes all the usual photo filters, but it lacks the ability to upload videos, which is found on its Android and iOS versions. But the company promises to bring new features to the app. "We wanted to make Instagram available to people with Windows Phones as quickly as possible, so we focused on creating an awesome experience with Instagram's core features. We're not finished, and our team will continue developing the Windows Phone app to keep releasing features and bringing you the best Instagram possible," said the company in a blog post.

Apart from video uploading, there are other features missing in the Instagram app for Windows Phone, including the inability to tag people in photos or view maps from geotagged photos.

According to the company, Instagram has reached over 150 million active users.

Facebook bought Instagram for $1 billion in April 2012 as a way to keep its users hooked on new features weeks before the social media network became a publicly traded company.
