KOCHI: In a major initiative, the district administration is planning to ensure free treatment facilities to deserving individuals, who have made their mark in the fields of art, culture and sports, in the district. Collector P I Sheik Pareeth said that administration has been planning to give free treatment to the talented people who have performed at national and international levels.In the initial phase, the district administration will start collecting details of the deserving candidates in various fields. Information about those currently active in the field and those staying away due to health issues will be collected. They would be given treatment at Ernakulam General Hospital.After the data collection, administration will issue special treatment cards to those identified for the scheme. The cards would mention details of the health status and treatment data. The project is aimed at ensuring timely treatment to them, said the Collector. The administration is also planning to introduce facilities for home treatment to those who cannot go to the hospital. The administration is planning to give complete free treatment to these individuals. If necessary, ambulance service will also be made available, the Collector said. Those included in the project will be given general check up at the general hospital. The project will be implemented in association with other departments. With the Ernakulam General Hospital becoming a super-speciality hospital, treatment facilities will be made available for more people. Also there will be more facilities, Pareeth added.
