BANGALORE: The government will file a plea in Supreme Court seeking permission to hold a second round of counselling to fill up 34 vacant PG medical seats, Medical Education Minister S A Ramadas said.
"Of the total 405 government seats, only 34 are vacant. As per the agreement if the seats are not filled on or before May 31, then it automatically reverts to the management. To avoid this, we will file a petition and seek permission to hold a second round of counselling before June 30," Ramadas explained. He said the number of government PG seats will increase with 25 percent of the seats belonging to deemed university becoming government seats.

"This 25 percent seats from deemed university is over and above the 34 seats that have remained vacant. Permission will be sought from the SC to hold another round of counselling both for the 34 seats as well as for those which are becoming available from deemed universities," he added.

"There has been no scope for any kind of discrepancy as the system has been made foolproof. If there are delays, it is not a major problem. But as far as the government is concerned, we had taken all the aspects into consideration," the medical education minister said.
