Probe showed that the victim had reportedly cheated one of the kidnappers of Rs 2.5 lakh after promising to get him a job abroad.Witnesses told the police that Muralidharan (38), a native of Coimbatore and marketing manager at Eagle Security Agency, was pulled into a car by four men near his office around noon on Monday. The vehicle took off before they could reach the spot, they claimed.Sources said Muralidharan was working in the company for the last couple of years and stayed in a portion of the office complex. However, when the promised job failed to materialise, Murugan demanded his money back. When Muralidharan kept putting it off, he hatched a plan to kidnap him and roped in his brother Rajesh and three college students, sources said. The police rescued the victim from a house at Maligampattu village, near Panrutti, in Cuddalore. Muralidharan told the police that the kidnappers threatened to kill him if he did not return the money. On seeing the cops, the five men took to their heels with the victim’s Rs 30,000 cash and a laptop. A hunt is on to nab them.
