Police torture of youth alleged

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A youth was admitted to the General Hospital on Tuesday evening triggering complaints that he had been subjected to torture by the Fort Police.The allegation was that the police mistook him for someone else and had beaten him up. But police say the youth, they gave his name as Riyaz, of Vallakkadavu, was an accused in an assault case.  He was charged as second accused for assaulting Abhilal, an accountant with a private firm. Riyaz was let off on bail. The police have denied that the youth was tortured.
