PUDUCHERRY: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, on Tuesday, announced an interim relief of Rs 125 crore for the cyclone Thane-affected. According to an official release from Government of India, the interim relief is based on the preliminary report sent by the UT government to the Centre. The interim relief of Rs 125 crore would be released by Wednesday, Union Minister of state in PMO V Narayanasamy said.A central government team is currently visiting the affected areas and will be submitting its report on its return based on which a final relief as may be admissible will be sanctioned, said the release.It may be recalled that Puducherry government had sought an interim relief of `500 crore.
