Television actress Pratyusha Banerjee's boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh was on Tuesday booked for abetment to suicide by the Mumbai Police.
Rahul Raj Singh has been booked under section 306 and section 504 of the Indian Penal Code in connection with the death case of the Balika Vadhu actress.
Police had questioned Pratyusha's boyfriend all though the day on Saturday and even Sunday after which he fell ill and was admitted to a local hospital.
Reacting to the development, Rahul Raj Singh's lawyer Neeraj Gupta said, "We are going to approach court. We need to see the FIR and under what basis it was filed," adding that Rahul Raj Singh was not in a state for interrogation.
Several television industry personalities have claimed on social media networks that Pratyusha was a strong-willed personality and they could not believe she would end her life in this manner.
The glamour industry is rife with speculation about her disturbed personal life, her suspected uneasy relationship with Rahul and other aspects that may have prompted her to resort to the extreme step.
Pratyusha, 24, had committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her home in suburban Goregaon on Friday evening, sending shockwaves in the glam and entertainment world.
