Proposals to be submitted before Centre

KOCHI: The proposals and recommendations of the two-day conference on ship building, jointly organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the National Maritime Foundation will be submitted before the Union Government for further action, CII ex-chairman K K M Kutty has said.Speaking on the sidelines of the conference, he said that the recommendations will focus on the infrastructure development and growth potential of the industry.  “There’s tremendous growth potential for maritime trade, and we should be able to exploit it,” he pointed out. On the second day of Ships-2011, conference on strategies, human resources, infrastructure, processes and security, papers were presented on various topics, including indigenisation and shipyard productivity.
