PU computer course for fisherwomen

PUDUCHERRY: Pondicherry Central University has undertaken a task of making 40 women from four fishing villages computer literate.The women, all class X pass, began learning the basics of computers, which included windows, MS Office, at the university here on Wednesday. Prof M Ramadass, director of studies, educational innovation and rural reconstruction, and vice-chancellor inaugurated the one-month short term training programme.Addressing the participants, Ramadass said the programme was the first of the four training programmes scheduled for women and Rs 4 lakh was allotted for it. The women will be provided free transport and food by the university.
