The Sree Narayana (SN) Trust annual general body meeting held at SN College, Cherthala, on Sunday approved Rs 62.23 crore budget for the financial year 2012-13. SN Trust general secretary Vellappally Natesan presented the budget. The budget has given prominence to the establishment of educational institutions in the state. About half of the allotment is earmarked for setting up new institutions.
The foundation stone for a new law college at Kollam will be held on September 12, says the report. A new polytechnic college will be established at Cherthala. SN Trust chairman M N Soman presided over the function. Assistant secretary Kilimanoor Chandrababu, treasurer Jayadevan and SNDP Yogam vice-president Thushar Vellappally spoke.
Call for Unity After the meeting Vellappally said that the unification of Nairs and Ezhavas is of great necessity. “SN trust leaders will hold a discussion with NSS general secretary Sukumaran Nair this week at the latter’s residence,” he said. “Some people are trying to undermine closer ties between the Nss and SNDP Yogam. These people should realise that the bylaw of SNDP mentions the unity of SNDP and NSS. Earlier, Mannathu Padmanabhan and R Shanker had begun the process of unification, but it has not been accomplished. The political situation of that period was not conducive for unity. But the times have changed and are ripe for bringing
unity between the two,” he added.
