Kanpur: Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti met the family of a martyr who was killed in the attack by Naxals in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on December 1.
She met the family of CRPF Deputy Commandant BS Verma in Kanpur. Verma and Assistant Commandant Rajesh Kapooriya were among the CRPF men ambushed and killed by Maoists.
Niranjan Jyoti has been under opposition's fire for her controversial statement while addressing a public gathering in Delhi.
Naxals killed 14 CRPF personnel, including teo police officers, who were stationed at Chintagufa in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh for an ongoing anti-Naxal operation.
"The encounter that took place around 10-11 km south of Chintagufa in Sukma district left a Deputy Commandant and an Assistant Commandant of CRPF dead with 11 others," informed ADG anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh RK Vij.
