MYSORE: At first glance, this 28-year-old fair, lean, 4’ 6’’ man looks innocent. But this image is what he relied on to lure close to 30 women and then rape them. When police recently raided the Rajendranagar house of Mahesh, the rapist, following a victim’s rape complaint, they found three dozen vanity bags in his bedroom — a pointer to the number of victims he had snared.The pervert, after raping his victims, would take pleasure in making them run behind him naked, begging him to return their clothes, which he would return one by one, teasing them.Police said he escaped arrest for several years since his victims feared lodging a complaint due to obvious reasons.Police said he even pitied his victims’ innocence. “He stalked lone women on his scooter and if they responded to his smiles, he would proceed on his sadistic mission,” they said.“He would tell the victim that her relative had asked him to bring her to a certain place. As the gullible, confused woman sits on his scooter, he would take them to BSNL Layout, 10 km from the city near Hanchya. He would take them to an isolated place and rape them,” the official said.“He would rob them, make them beg for their clothes, and let them go,” he added.Based on a victim’s compliant, the police asked a few cowherds at the spot to tip them off. When he was making a similar attempt a few days ago, the police trapped him. He will be taken into custody and produced before the media in a day or two.
