Ajay Sharma, president of the Sanatan Rakshak Dal, recently declared that Sai baba's idol should not be placed in temples, arguing that idols of deceased persons should not be worshipped

Ajay Sharma, president of the Sanatan Rakshak Dal, was taken into custody late on Wednesday night. According to reports, he was planning to remove Sai Baba idols from temples in Varanasi when authorities apprehended him.

In a similar incident on last Sunday, Sharma had allegedly removed Sai Baba idols from several temples in the religious city. He reportedly led the removal of Sai Baba idols from 10 locations, including the Ganesh Mandir.

Sharma also declared that Sai baba’s idol should not be placed in temples, arguing that idols of deceased persons should not be worshipped. He further asserted that “in the sacred city of Kashi, only Mahadev Bhole Nath, or Bawa Vishwanath”, should be revered.

New organisation Formed to Protect Sai Baba Idols

Meanwhile, Sai Baba devotees have come forward to counter these actions. Following a formal meeting, they formed a new group, Shri Sai Sevak Dal Banaras, with the aim of legally protecting Sai Baba’s idols in temples.

The group plans to lodge a formal complaint with the Varanasi Police Commissioner, urging the police to prevent further removal of idols.

Abhishek Kumar Srivastava, president of Shri Sai Sevak Banaras Dal, stated that removing the idols could disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of both Varanasi and the nation.

The group will request law enforcement to ensure that no more Sai Baba idols are removed from temples in the future.
