CHENNAI: D Hansraj Saxena, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Sun TV Network, who apprehended arrest following a complaint from Nithya Atmaprabhananda, manager of Dyna Peeda Charitable Trust, was refused advance bail by Madras High Court judge T Madhivanan on Monday.Originally, Prabhananda had lodged a complaint against Saxena for offences under various sections, including 506(ii) of the IPC and the inspector attached to the T Nagar police station registered an FIR against Saxena and eight others. The case was later transferred to the CB CID following a direction to this effect from the DGP on August 8 last. Saxena filed the present petition for anticipatory bail. Meanwhile, the complainant filed a petition to implead himself as a party in the case. He contended that the petition was not maintainable as Saxena was in police custody in connection with some other cases. The offences were grave and it required custodial interrogation. There was a prima facie case against Saxena. He was a very influential person, and if he was granted advance bail, he would tamper with the witnesses, complainant contended. And the judge rejected the advance bail plea of Saxena.
