PIRAVOM: The Piravom panchayat has introduced a single window system to issue licences to business and mini industrial enterprises. “The issue of the licence will be based on an affidavit given by the owner,” said panchayat president Sabu K Jacob.Earlier, it used to take almost three months to get business licence once the owner applied for it. With the introduction of the new system, it will be a day’s work. The business community had protested several times against the delay in issuing licences. “The panchayat has the authority of issuing licences to 156 various enterprises in their area. “A mini industry functioning with a motor having a capacity of more than 5 HP can be issued after the approval of the panchayat committee,” Jacob said.“The licence book will be converted into a smart card and it will given within an hour,” he said. The president inaugurated the licence distribution after handing over a smart card to the Merchant Association president M T Paulose the other day. Panchayat vice-president Annamma Domy, standing committee chairman K N Chandresekhran, members K K Biju, Sali Kuriakose, C M Pathrose, Kunjumol Thomas, Biju Reji and panchayat secretary Shibu George participated in the function.
