New Delhi: Nobody had expected much from a new director like Neeraj Pandey when he first came up with 'A Wednesday' in 2008, but the film went on to become one of the sleeper hits of the year. It might have helped Pandey in picking up his next project but it also has raised the audience's expectations from 'Special 26'.
Neeraj Pandey has featured a mainstream star Akshay Kumar along-with some acting powerhouses such as Manoj Bajpayee and Anupam Kher in 'Special 26'. Jimmy Shergill has also developed a lot in recent years while Kajal Aggarwal has still to prove her calibre.
The film is about a group of daredevil thieves led by Ajay Singh (Akshay Kumar), who are facing a stiff opposition from CBI officer Wasim Khan (Manoj Bajpayee). Who will win this cat-and-mouse game forms the core the film.
The film has been promoted well and Akshay Kumar is a bankable name, so it is likely to get initial eyeballs but only the quality of the content will decide its run at the ticket window.
