The 42nd International Film Festival of India will showcase 40 digital films during the ten-day extravagnza.

Panaji: The 42nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will showcase 40 digital films during the ten-day extravagnza, screening them through Qube server. The organisers have roped in New Delhi-headquartered Real Image Media Technologies Private Limited (RIMTPL) to project the 2D and 3D movies in four auditoriums during the fest here.

"At least 40 films would be screened using Qube digital server," said Ketan Mehta, Manager, Digital Cinema Support, RIMTPL. The company will be installing 6 Qube Servers for the festival, he said adding this would be a step ahead of the normal projection through celluloid films.

IFFI this time has a special section for 3D films which will showcase the likes of The Cave of Forgotten Dreams by Werner Herzog, Pina by Wim Wenders and other half a dozen films. Mehta said that one auditorium at Kala Academy and three at INOX multiplex will be equipped to screen these new generation films. "With digital films, the viewing quality is much better," he explained. RIMTPL provides digital technology solutions for film, video, and audio industries.

Mehta said the firm is a pioneer to bring in digital technology for world. The company has 3,500 installations in 30 countries and there are 2,500 installations in India including big multiplex chains. IFFI would be held between November 23 and December 3 in Goa. The festival would be inaugurated by bollywood star Shahrukh Khan.
