BANGALORE: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Tirupati, and Yashaswini Charitable Trust, Bangalore, will jointly host ‘Srinivasa Kalyanotsava’ at Kammalammanagudi playground at Mahalakshmi Layout in the city on January 8.Announcing this at the press conference here on Tuesday, Dr A Radhakrishna Raju, member of TTD Central Dharmika Mandal said, “Our society is withering due to various reasons like natural calamities, internal clashes, turbulence etc. The Kalyanotsava is being held for the welfare of all.”“To participate in the Kalyanotsava at Tirumala, one has to register a year before. But this Utsav at Bangalore is free and open to all. Utsav’s expenditure will be around Rs 80 lakh which will be borne by the trust and TTD along with other donors,” said Umapathy Naidu, president, Yashaswini Charitable Trust.More than 3,000 couples are expected to participate in the Kalyanotsava and more than one lakh visitors are expected to take part. Tirupati Laddoo and other prasadams will be distributed on the occasion.The highlight of the event is that the puja utensils, precious ornaments, and the Utsava Murthy of Lord Srinivasa for Kalyanotsava will be brought from the Tirumala on January 7.Mayor Sharadamma is expected to receive the idol along with the devotees at Kanteerava Studio. The idol will be taken on a procession with various bhajan groups and priests to the venue where Uyyale Seve and other devotional programmes will be held.The Kalayanotsava will start on January 8 at 9.30 am.
