THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The students of St John’s School, Nalanchira, will be taking out a ‘Anti-Drugs’ rally on Friday in the city. The rally is being organised to commemorate World Anti-Drugs Day. It will start from Nalanchira Step Junction and will cover the Nalanchira area, pass through Kurissadi junction and end back in the school through the main gate of the Mar Ivanios Vidya Nagar, which houses the school among the other institutions. “The issue of  addiction to drugs and alcohol is one of great concern in modern society,’’ said Jacob Charles, headmaster of the school. “We aim to spread the message against addiction and to ensure that none of our students fall into the habit of drug usage,” he said. The school is planning  a year-long programme to spread awareness against addiction and has planned seminars and workshops to instil the message in its pupils. “We are planning to bring personalities such as Reny Matthew, better known as ‘Madrasile Mon’, to tell students about the grave dangers of addiction to drugs and alcohol,” he said.
