Steel Bombs recovered

KANNUR: Even as clashes were taking place between CPM and Muslim League activists in the district, powerful bombs were detected at Keecheri and Pazhayangady on Monday morning.Steel bombs hidden under a transformer on the national highway at Keecheri was spotted by a retired policeman from Tamil Nadu, who alerted the Valapattanam police on the incident. A bomb squad from Kannur reached the spot and defused the bombs. The steel bombs were powerful enough to cause destruction to people and buildings, the bomb squad said.
