BANGALORE: The HAL ward is known for its industrial activity and it has its consequences. The residents cry foul because of unsolved issue from the BBMP of tackling to clear illegally garbage in HAL market.The vendors are a worried lot as their customers complain of foul smell and dirt in the market area, and shop in their own lanes instead of coming to market, “Our councillor had promised many things at the time of election, but nothing big has come from his side so far,” said Firdoz Khan, vegetable shop owner.“I was a regular visitor at HAL market to buy vegetables, but now, I do not go there as the approach roads are slushy. Hygiene goes for a toss here. Despite numerous complaints, the corporator has not taken any serious action,” said Syed Zia, a resident, HAL ward. Standing Committee Chairman for Markets Roopa Ramesh said she would pay a visit to these areas and address the issue of illegal garbage dumping. “I do agree that I have not come to other areas as much and conducted inspection, but I will ensure that work is done.” When the Corporator Siddalingaiah was contacted, he said, “We had shortage of funds and we called for a tender to clear the garbage.”
