BHUBANESWAR: With the State Government not naming any replacement for Anup Kumar Patnaik, who retired as Director of Vigilance, on Wednesday, Surendra Panwar will now be in charge of the position. Panwar, a 1987 batch IPS officer, is currently posted as IG of Vigilance. Along with three of his batchmates, he is scheduled for a promotion soon. Patnaik, a DG ranked officer, has been appointed member of Orissa Public Service Commission by the State Government.Meanwhile, a Vigilance court on Wednesday sentenced a steno to a year’s rigorous imprisonment (RI) and fined him for taking a bribe of ` 250.The accused, Anadi Charan Panda, was working in the office of Electrical Inspector (T&D). Panda had demanded the bribe to process the file of Praticha Ranjan Badajena, a resident of Jankia in Khurda.
