HYDERABAD: Hyderabad’s own Mr World, Dandem Laxman Reddy has done it again. He bagged the eighth spot in the Musclemania World Pro Championship at Las Vegas and could have done even better but for the unexpected setbacks during his journey. He was the only Indian among the 47 contestants from around the world at the competition that was held from Nov 18 to 20. “There were some last minute hiccups regarding my visa and flight ticket”, he said. As part of daily regimen, he takes 8 meals a day which includes chicken, eggs, raw vegetables and fruits, protein powder etc. “But this time my diet, which included chicken, eggs and protein powder, was confiscated at the airport. Consequently, I had to go hungry during the 27-hour long journey,” Reddy told City Express. He was confident of clinching a spot in the top three. “But it all depends on the performance on that particular day. The competition was challenging. However, I am very happy to have figured in the top 10 among the world’s best bodybuilders,” he said.Reddy is right now preparing for the Mr India competition which is going to be held in Hyderabad between January 20 and 22 next year. “I was the Mr India 2008, but since this time it’s happening in our own city, I want to perform well and win it for Hyderabadis,” said Reddy.Morris Mendez of the US won the Musclemania World Pro Championship 2011. He has been the champion since 1993. Reddy was invited to take part in the event as he’s the reigning Mr World in amateur bodybuilders category.
