BANGALORE: Amateur golfers from all over the country will come together in Bangalore for a cause that will benefit hundreds of poor children in the state. The organisers have tall goals and that is to provide education to at least ‘one million children’ by 2013. As part of its annual fund raising activity, Bangalore Metropolitan Round Table 44 will organise the La Palazzo Round Table Open 202 Golf Tournament on April 7 at the KGA Golf Course. This is in aid of BMRT 44’s ongoing project, the Round Table School. Over 130 golfers will participate in the tournament. The presentation ceremony will be held at the Golf Club House on the same day. 100 per cent of the proceeds from the La Palazzo Round Table Open will be for the ongoing school project of Bangalore Metropolitan Round Table 44. Well known cricketeer Sunil Joshi and Manoj Attal, chairman of Bangalore Metropolitan Round Table 44 stressed on the importance of educating underprivileged children. “I think this is a great intitiative. It is extremely important that we ensure quality education for all children today.Education is a critical component in ensuring the future of a child and is fundamental to the future of our country,” said Sunil Joshi.Round Table India has initiated the ‘Freedom through Education’ program to educate underprivileged children in India. It believes in community service through the fellowship of its members. Its members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to help people and educate underprivileged children. Manoj Attal said, “This is the second edition of the tournament. Last time around, it was a huge success. The golf tournament is an annual fund raising event. Round Table India is extremely committed to this cause. We believe that we can achieve our goal of educating one million children by 2013.”
