KOCHI: A two-day exhibition to mark the 50th anniversary of Men-Tsee-Khang Tibetan Medicine and Astrological Institute of the Dalai Lama, was inaugurated by Justice V R Krishna Iyer, on Tuesday at Ashirbhavan, in Kacherippady.The exhibition, the eighth of a series being held across south India, focuses on spreading awareness on the 2500-year-old history of Tibetan medicine and astrology. The exhibition showcases the raw materials being used in Tibetan medicine, the manufactured medicines (along with labels), the ancient medical and astrological scriptures and the copies of 300-year-old Tibetan paintings. The exhibition also has documentation of Men-Tsee-Khang’s history and details of the various departments that come under it.Free Tibetan medical and astrological consultation can also be sought.Dr V Madhavanachandran (research and development, Nagarjuna Ayurvedic), Yesudasan (cartoonist), Fr Joseph Thannikkottu (director, Ashirbhavan) and Dr Dorjee Rapten Nesher (chief medical officer of Bangalore Men-Tsee-Khang) spoke at the inaugural function.
