Two persons, including a Bhilai-based businessman, have been arrested for allegedly supplying materials used for making arms and ammunition to Naxals in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Sukma district, police said in Raipur.
Businessman Yogesh Vardani and Ramadhar Verma, a driver who hails from Kerlapal areal of Sukma, were arrested on Saturday night on the specific input by a recently arrested Naxal supporter, Sukma Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Neeraj Chandrakar told PTI.
Yogesh, who runs a hardware shop in Bhilai area, was providing various hardware materials used in manufacture of firearms and explosives to Naxals, he said.
Chandrakar said Poonam Deva, who was arrested last month from Manjhipara area, told police that Yogesh, a native of Khurshipar area in Bhilai, was supplying materials to rebels hiding out in remote areas of south Bastar for the past several months.
Deva was introduced to Yogesh by Ramadhar, the ASP said, adding both Yogesh and Ramadhar have been booked under Chhattisgarh Special Public Security Act, 2005.
