Two arrested, gold worth Rs 28 lakh recovered

BANGALORE: The sleuths of the Homicide and Burglary Squad of the city’s Central Crime Branch (CCB) have arrested two persons on charges of house theft and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 28 lakh from them.The accused have been identified as Umesha alias Raja alias Jail Raj, 29, of Byalalu in Kanakapura and Israr alias Latheef, 30, of Tipu Nagar in Chikmagalur.The police said that they first secured Umesha and upon interrogation, it was learnt that the stolen jewels were sold to Israr. Later, Israr was also arrested. Umesha had committed theft at houses in Vartur, Old Airport, Mahadevapura, Tavarekere and Indiranagar police station limits.About 950 grams of gold jewels worth Rs 28 lakh have been recovered from the two, they explained.
