New Delhi: Two Indo-Tibetan Border Patrol (ITBP) jawans were reportedly injured in firing by Chinese forces in the Kerang area of North Sikkim almost a fortnight ago.
Highly placed intelligence sources have told CNN-IBN that though the incident took place a fortnight ago but was kept under wraps.
The firing incident allegedly took place in the Kerang area of North Sikkim.
But ITBP and External Affairs Ministry have denied the firing and injury to ITBP soldiers.
"This is wrong reporting and such information is wrong. No such incident like this has happened and all our jawans are safe," ITBP Director General Vikram Srivastava told CNN-IBN.
The area is close to the Finger Point where Chinese troops have repeatedly intruded.
This is reportedly not the first time that jawans have been hurt along the border with China.
In 2007 also, 3 jawans of ITBP were reportedly hurt in an exchange of fire with the Chinese along the border in Sikkim.
The firing incident comes to light after reports of Chinese incursion along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Indian Army has reportedly said that Chinese troops are repeatedly entering sensitive areas in Ladakh, Bara Hoti in Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh encouraged by the scant opposition.
The Army has also been demanding that its patrols be allowed to move into sensitive areas on the Indian side of the LAC.
