HYDERABAD: While dismissing senior IPS officer Umesh Kumar's plea, seeking exemption from personal appearance before the court, the Nampally court on Monday directed him to appear before the court on all days of proceedings, in connection with forgery and other cases. Umesh Kumar, posted as chairman of the Godavari Valley Development Authority at present, had filed a petition in the Nampally court, seeking exemption from personal appearance before the court during the proceedings. In his plea, he cited security issues as the reason for the exemption. The public prosecutor, however, said to the court that the reasons stated by Umesh Kumar did not have any merit. The state filed a counter contending that his position can't come in the way of court proceedings and that the security provided to him is the same as every senior officer of the SP and above ranks get. After hearing the arguments from both counsels, the court dismissed Umesh Kumar's plea and directed him to appear before the court on all days of proceedings.
