Jagmeet Gill and Chandas Das, winners of this year's Raid De Himalaya TSD Category, have lifted the overall winner's trophy at the Uttarakhand Adventure Car Rally which concluded in Dehradun.
Gill, who was leading on Day One, slipped to the fifth position overall on day two of the rally. On the third and concluding day on Tuesday, Gill made significant progress and proved why he ranks among the top TSD rallyists of the country. Jagmeet and Das were driving for Team Maruti.
Bangalore's champion rallyists and the husband-wife duo of Satish Gopalkrishnan and Savera D'Souza ranked second overall at the rally. Ajgar Ali from Haldia with navigator M Mustafa of Tamil Nadu ended overall third.
Jagmeet and Chandan won the prize of Rs 5 lakh announced by Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna. The second and third-placed ended with a prize of Rs 3 lakh and 2 lakh respectively.
The Chief Minister had also announced a prize of Rs 1 lakh for the all-women team that scored the highest at the rally. The prize was won by the team of Rinchen Nargolwala and Latika Narang. The rally was organised by Uttarakhand Tourism promote the state as an eco-adventure tourism destination.
The rally route touched some of the favourite tourist attractions in Uttarakhand.
