MYSORE: Two persons were killed on the spot when a train rammed into a car at an unmanned level crossing at Yalachi gate near Mallenehalli in Mysore taluk on Saturday night.

They have been identified as Ramesh, 40, a resident of Mellanahalli, and Vykunta, 41, a resident of Sidaboganahalli of Pandavapura. The car was hit by the speeding train while it was crossing the track, wrongly estimating the train to be located afar. The bodies were cut into pieces and the damaged van fell into nearby field. However, there are no reports of casualty to train passengers or derailment of bogies.

RPF officials and authorities rushed to the spot immediately. The Mysore bound train was stopped for more than 40 minutes, before it proceeded to Mysore Junction.
