HYDERABAD: Barring stray incidents, byelections to the seven Assembly constituencies were held peacefully in the state on Sunday.A case was registered against Warangal MP Sirisilla Rajaiah for campaigning in a polling booth for violation the election code. On Sunday morning, the MP along with Congress candidate Rajarapu Pratap, visited a polling centre at Pedda Pendyala village. Greeting the voters with folded hands, he urged them to vote for the Congress candidate and the TRS activists took it to the notice of the Election Commission. They complained to the state election commissioner Bhanwarlal, the district collector and the SP. Police have launched a search for the MP. Meanwhile, more than 166 persons were taken into preventive custody at various places, while four were caught influencing voters and police recovered a Maoist dump in Warangal.
