New Delhi: As the cameras pan wildly cheering fans during business hours on the Centre Court, they focus on a dark haired woman - a constant presence these days whenever Rafa Nadal is playing. Meet Maria Francisca Perello, Nadal’s lady love.
Spotted sitting among Nadal’s friends and family during this year’s Wimbledon, Perello, or ‘Xisca’ as she is called by friends, is becoming increasingly visible at Nadal’s matches.
Nadal has claimed in the past that he is single but with Perello showing up with the tennis star at several matches and vacation spots, the media is rife with speculation of a budding romance between the two.
Perello and Nadal are said to have met while they were in school in Majorca. Little is known about Nadal’s elusive girlfriend except that she likes to keep a low profile so as not to distract the US Open Champion from his game.
The 22-year-old Perello is said to be dating Nadal for the last three years and comes from his home town in Majorca.
The Mail Online described Xisca as a down-to-earth beauty who studied business at a university in Palma.
She is also said to be very close to Nadal’s grandmother.
Nadal on Monday sealed his place among the tennis greats by beating Novak Djokovic to win the U.S. Open and collecting his ninth grand slam title.
Perello was also spotted in the stands during Nadal’s men's singles match against Feliciano Lopez at the U.S. Open.
Before he left for the US Open, Nadal and Xisca were photographed cruising around the links in a golf cart in Mallorca, Spain.
