BANGALORE: Forest Minister C P Yogeshwar asserted that the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) has unilaterally framed charges against him without serving any notice to the Megacity Developers following a malicious complaint lodged by his political tormentors. Yogeshwar is also one of the directors in the development firm.Addressing newsmen here on Thursday, he pleaded ignorance on the matter and said that unfriendly sources have hatched a political conspiracy against him only to tarnish his image. “Unable to tolerate my popularity in the Old-Mysore region, my political adversaries are trying to malign me,” he said.Referring to the controversy over the project, Yogeshwar, however, admitted that there was some legal dispute between the company management and the investors who could not get their sites. “The problem cropped up because of acquisition of developed land from the KIADB for the NICE project and the issue is before the Supreme Court for final adjudication,” he said. The minister added that following legal complications, some of the investors who have invested in the company were either offered alternate sites or cash compensation.Denying media reports that the company had cheated over 10,000 members who were seeking residential sites after making initial investments, the minister said that the company had admitted only 3,000 members and as many as 1,650 were allotted residential sites.Referring to the SFIO report, the minister alleged that JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy and Congress leader D K Shivakumar were plotting the conspiracy against him. “I will fight the legal battle till the truth prevails,” the minister said. The minister also took exception to conducting parallel investigations against him on the same charges by different agencies. The minister professed ignorance to the controversy over having more than one Director Identification Number (DIN), and said that the matter was over after surrendering two other DINs to the authorities after paying a penalty.
