'In India, if you are not into Bollywood music it is difficult to make a mark. But, slowly the audience is beginning to develop a taste for rock and various genres. Venues like Hard Rock Cafe have really contributed towards the growth of such bands. It isn’t as difficult now as it used to be to if you wished to perform live,” said 2Blue, the vocalist of Zedde.Started in 2008, the Bombay-based band performed live on December 15 at Hard Rock Cafe. 2Blue with guitarist Claver Menezes got together and started the band. And, Trevor Berchman was brought in as the drummer while Deepu, the bass player.“I was playing for Vayu before we started Zedde. I have always wanted a band of my own and when all of us came together there was a sort of positive vibe and that reflected in us,” said 2Blue. It was the band’s first performance at Hard Rock Cafe and they loved the way the audience reciprocated the energy and enthusiasm.“The music was really good. It was to my taste and the kind I would expect to be played at Hard Rock. Seeing that the band was Mumbai-based it was very well received by the audience which speaks volumes about their music.” said Vishwas, a member of the audience. The band had a humble beginning but the Anthem of the Year Award at the world’s largest Indie Music awards in 2010, for their first single Mumbai brought them to the forefront of the rock scene.Since then there has been no looking back for the band as they went on to be voted as the best band at ArtistAloud.com 2010. “Individually, we are all influenced by various artistes like Dave Lambardo, Joe Satriani, Joey Tempest, Billy Sheehan, etc but as a band we are influenced by Mr Big, Nickleback who have a very rocky edge, Van Halen. We are a hard rock band and love performing live.” added 2Blue. The band kept the tempo alive and kicking throughout its performance with its original tunes and also covered famous numbers like Smoke on the Water, Another Brick in the Wall and Eye of the Tiger too.
