Former South Korean boyband NCT member Lucas dropped the first part of his YouTube documentary Freeze on February 24. Lucas was also a part of NCT’s Chinese sub-unit WayV, before exiting the group in 2023. On May 10, last year Lucas’ management company SM Entertainment announced the rapper’s departure from both groups, revealing that he would now be pursuing solo activities. Lucas went on an indefinite hiatus from his work commitments in August 2021 after he was accused of cheating and gaslighting his former girlfriends, following a confession by one of the women. In his latest documentary, Lucas has indirectly broken his silence about the allegations.
In the documentary, Lucas struck up a heart-to-heart conversation with his manager-cum-friend. Although not directly, the singer revealed that he fell into depression and locked himself in his house for six months after encountering a dark phase in his life. “I didn’t want to do anything. I had a lot of thoughts," he explained before sharing how he began losing hair from stress and anxiety. He claimed he was not eating enough, having lost his appetite. Apologising for his mistakes Lucas said, “I was so sorry I wanted to die because honestly, it was all my fault. Had I not done that, this wouldn’t have happened."
When Lucas’ manager disclosed that he tried his best to bring his friend out of the depths of despair and into the outside world, Lucas said that he deliberately kept himself busy but felt like “exploding" and almost gave up on life. Reflecting on his mistakes, Lucas admitted, “I did the things I did in the past because I really was out of my mind." He also talked about how “lonely" he felt at times, before confessing that over the past few years, his “views have changed" realising more about who he was and what he wanted.

Soon after the release of Freeze, part 1 fans were divided in their opinions. While some cheered and supported Lucas, others criticised him. Check out some reactions below:

He was admitting calling out the ssg and how it caused even more issues. The way ppl will interpret things for their own benefit? Also what I don’t get is (they hate Lucas, they are no longer fans) but they’re still following him around for info. It’s kinda sad. https://t.co/9ryyuGuk30— ????????????zz????#DFF ???? CW LucasFor a long time I wondered what explanation you'd give. This reputation rehabilitating and manipulative "documentary" is awful. You admit you did it all, but dance around what it is you did exactly. You apologise, but not to the girls you harmed. You've surrounded https://t.co/lpeHULs7dm

On February 24, Lucas made a return on Instagram by dropping a picture of himself on Instagram. He even tagged himself to one of his new accounts, indicating a fresh start and his comeback in the K-pop field as a solo artist. However, the singer has yet to confirm his future endeavours, if any.
