BTS fans are heartbroken to the see the Tannies leave for their enlistment. So much so that they not only streamed Spring Day in high numbers as they prepared for RM, V, Jimin and Jungkook enlist but ended up helping it making history. Spring Day, one of BTS’ songs from their discography which was released six years ago, dethroned Mariah Carey’s iconic Christmas song, All I Want For Christmas Is You. The Christmas song, which released in 1994, reemerges every December and rules the top spot of US iTunes every year.
However, this year, heartbroken BTS fans managed to surpass the streams of the Christmas song and helped Spring Day record its first ever top spot on the chart after six long years. Popular music chart tracker, Chart Data, revealed on X (previously known as Twitter), “BTS’s ‘Spring Day’ has reached #1 on US iTunes for the first time ever."
BTS fans are feeling bittersweet about the milestone. “Spring Day dethroning All I Want for Christmas is You two weeks before christmas because armys are sad is insane," a fan wrote. "

how to explain how meaningful it is that spring day reached #1 on us iTunes for the first time ever the same day all the members enlist. our way to tell them we will wait for them until the spring days come again pic.twitter.com/LoYPBx0nn0— outroseokss⁷ (ꪜ) ³ᴰ (@callmebyyourjin) December 12, 2023
for people who don’t understand the sheer context—every year during december, it’s nearly impossible to surpass all i want for christmas is you. that’s why artists don’t usually prefer releasing albums then. we did it for a 6 year old song because we’re sad. this is CRAZY. pic.twitter.com/AQeWW1uUhR— Yet To Come Ⓢ⁷ | future’s gonna be okay (@im_yet_to_come) December 12, 2023
