Uncle Samsik: Fresh Stills Show Jin Ki Joo In The Role Of Upright Reporter

Disney+ Koreas has released some fresh stills of Jin Ki Joo in the upcoming K drama Uncle Samsik. In the upcoming series Uncle Samsik, Jin Ki Joo will portray the character of Joo Yeo Jin, who is known for her values and wise nature. The drama revolves around the narratives of two individuals, Uncle Samsik (played by actor Song Kang Ho) and Kim San (played by Byun Yo Han). Together, they navigate the challenging landscape of Korea in the early 1960s. The new photos have added to the excitement surrounding the much-anticipated drama.

Joo Yeo Jin is depicted as a bright scholar, having graduated at the top of her class in Korean literature. She actively supports her partner, Kim San, but her life takes a turn when Kim San’s path crosses due to his encounters with Uncle Samsik. This prompts Joo Yeo Jin to transition into a role as a reporter, viewing the world with newfound objectivity, reports Soompi.

In the stills from the show, Joo Yeo Jin is portrayed with a mature and intelligent demeanour, evident in her refined hairstyle and attire. Her expression reflects a mix of worry and concern, piquing viewers’ curiosity about the subject of her gaze.

Discussing her character, Jin Ki Joo expressed, “Joo Yeo Jin is a character full of possibilities, someone who can evolve into anything.” She added that this character is unlike any she has portrayed previously, offering audiences a glimpse of a different side of her, informs Soompi.

Director of the drama, Shin Yeon Shick also talked about it and said, “Joo Yeo Jin serves as a reflection of the era, possessing an objective viewpoint and contemplating what is right.” He praised Jin Ki Joo for effectively embodying these aspects of the character.

Joining them are Lee Kyu Hyung as Kang Sung Min, a potential future leader, and Seo Hyun Woo as Jeong Han Min, an accomplished army soldier who trained alongside Kim San and also received the Albright scholarship. Additionally, Soompi informs that it was confirmed in June 2023 that Girls’ Generation’s Tiffany Young would be part of the ensemble cast.

Meanwhile, Uncle Samsik will be the OTT Debut of Parasite fame actor Song Kang Ho. Uncle Samsik is scheduled to debut on May 15, 2024, on Disney+.
