Mumbai: For her upcoming winter-festive line, designer Namrata Joshipura has opted to go the 'shiny' way but has maintained the wearability factor by keeping the garments light and breezy. The collection, which has been inspired by a new make-up product, will be showcased on the day three of the Lakme Fashion Week, which begins on August 26. "My collection is iridescent. It has a lot of shine, and it is light and breezy. The clothes are young and modern and highlights the youthful energy," Namrata said. For her new line, the designer has collaborated with Lakme in launching their Instalight cream. She had earlier come together with the beauty brand two years ago at the same fashion event. "I loved the concept when they approached me. They gave me a brief. It was interesting to work around someone else's idea. It was challenging but I really enjoyed it."
When asked if such collaborations curb the creative freedom of a designer, Namrata said on the contrary she was inspired to do better and push her boundaries. "For this line, I have come up with something that I have not done before. I have really pushed my boundaries to bring together this line," said the designer, who has dressed celebrities like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Bipasha Basu and Shilpa Shetty Kundra. Known for her sharp silhouettes, Namrata's line will feature long dresses, jumpsuits, printed jackets, and lots of denim.
The colour palette boasts of lots of white, icy blue, some grey. A lot of holographic fabric and iridescent fabric have been used, teamed with shiny embellishments. The designer has also developed prints for this particular line. Namrata, however, did not divulge any details about her
celebrity showstopper.
