Michelin inspectors have promoted a dozen restaurants into the two-starred club and given 51 new restaurants their first star in the latest edition of the gastronomic red guide for Europe.

For the 36th edition of Michelin Guide Main Cities of Europe, inspectors were dispatched to dine in 44 cities in 20 countries to differentiate the dining destinations worth consumers' money, from those that are lackluster.

This year a dozen restaurants like Amador in Vienna, were promoted to the two-starred club, a category that denotes "excellent cooking, worth a detour."

Set within an elegant, vaulted stone cellar with a unique view of wine barrels behind a glass window, dishes at Amador include the "Berlin, Paris, Vienna" plate, featuring liver, calf shoulder and Perigord truffles from France.

The "Parfum de Siam" meanwhile is composed of carabineiro (a shellfish that resembles langoustine), milk calves and green curry.

"The young but experienced chef creates sophisticated, intensely flavored, artfully presented dishes crafted from top quality ingredients," said editor Rebecca Burr in a statement.

The newly added restaurants bring the total of two-starred restaurants in the guide to 91.

Of the 386 one-starred restaurants featured, 51 are also new additions. A restaurant designated with one star denotes "a very good restaurant in its category."

While there are no new three-starred restaurants, that category features 20 dining destinations that offer "exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey."

The Michelin guide Main Cities of Europe 2017 is out March 9 in hard copy and as an app.
