Many people get conscious of smiling due to the colour of their teeth. Apart from giving you a beautiful white smile, the lining of your teeth also helps prevent dental problems, including cavities. But how to prevent those yellow stains? If you want that pearly white laugh, you have to give up on some food and beverages. Yes, there are some food items that make your teeth appear yellow. Nutritionist Anjali Mukerjee, in an Instagram post, suggested 7 foods that are doing more harm than good to your teeth.
She mentioned that teeth whitening is a popular option, however, one must not forget that the whitening products use chemicals to bleach your teeth. Therefore, mentioning an easy and tangible way to prevent discolouration of teeth, she advised her followers to avoid these food items.
Black Coffee: Who doesn’t like to start their day with a shot of espresso? But here is some bad news for coffee lovers. Coffee holds the number 1 spot on the list of foods that stain your teeth.
Tea: If you are thinking about replacing your coffee consumption with tea, then it’s in vain. Tea also leads to unsightly teeth stains if one consumes them on a regular basis. Avoid black tea and pick green, white or any of the herbal teas, which are also healthier.
Red Wine: A glass of red wine is said to have umpteen health benefits. But Anjali maintains that the acids in wine create rough spots, which further grooves that discolour teeth.
Coke: The expert suggests that even dark sodas are harmful to teeth because of their staining colour.
Golas and Slushes: Summers without golas? Not done, but these ice-cold beverages create a perfect plot for food colourants which cause teeth stains.
Tobacco: Smoking or chewing tobacco has a lot of serious health problems linked to it. But in addition, tobacco causes dark brown or black stains on the teeth, due to the coal tar combustion.
Soy Sauce: Flavouring substances like soy sauce, which adds richness to your noodles and pasta, can stain your bright teeth too.
So, which of these food items are you willing to avoid from now on?
