Amazon Prime Video has finally released the official trailer for the inaugural season of Batman: Caped Crusader series. The animated series, based on the DC Comics, has been created by Bruce Timm, Matt Reeves and JJ Abrams. The series will have Bruce Wayne/Batman, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Commissioner Jim Gordon, Clayface and other key characters from the original comics. Along with the trailer, the makers have also shared a description of the premises of the storyline.
“Welcome to Gotham City, where the corrupt outnumber the good, criminals run rampant and law-abiding citizens live in a constant state of fear. Forged in the fire of tragedy, wealthy socialite Bruce Wayne becomes something both more and less than human – the BATMAN. His one-man crusade attracts unexpected allies within the GCPD and City Hall, but his heroic actions spawn deadly, unforeseen ramifications," read the official description.
The trailer starts with a voiceover, “Asking the question on everyone’s mind these days – what do you think about the Batman?" In the backdrop, we see a Batman-like shadow figure moving around in the dark and eventually taking flight. “I am frightened. This whole city is gone to hell in a handbasket," replied another voice. “Well, he’s breaking the law, ain’t he? So they oughta catch that freak and lock him up" said another character. Meanwhile, we see others discussing that while catching and locking up ‘Batman’ wouldn’t be easy, they must do it anyway.
There’s another reference to his appearance where a character says, “he dresses up like Dracula." Batman is also described as the one who beats the tar out of muggers, peddlers and has been seen at night, driving his car at a high speed. He is also allegedly attacking the policemen, as described in the trailer.
We also get glimpses of Batman moving around while Gotham City is in chaos and people are allegedly trying to catch hold of him.
