Director R Parthiban has filed a complaint against the owner of a Coimbatore-based M/s Real Works Studio, V. Sivaprasad. The filmmaker stated that the former had not completed VFX work as agreed upon. Based on the complaints, the Race Course police of Coimbatore have booked the studio owner for cheating.
Actor and director Parthiban is currently producing and directing the film Teenz. While the film is being developed as a child-centric adventure thriller, Coimbatore-based RealWorks studio owner Sivaprasad was working as the graphics supervisor for the film. In this matter, the police have registered a case of criminal breach of trust and cheating against Sivaprasad.
Director Parthiban filed a complaint against Sivaprasad that he agreed to complete the graphics work by last February and paid 42 lakh rupees for the first phase but did not complete the work as planned. In his complaint, he said that he gave visual effects work for the film to Realworks Studio, located at Pappanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore city, in October 2023.
“Sivaprasad was not able to complete work within the agreed period and asked for additional time till April 19 to complete it. He finished a small portion of the visual effects work for the film, and he could not complete the main portion of the film in May. However, he sent an email and demanded Rs 88.38 lakh for the visual effects work, which was not agreed,” said Parthiban.
In this case, Sivaprasad explained through a video that he was continuously pressured to complete the work. “We had done the VFX (visual effects) work for Teenz. We were forced to do VFX work for many shots, and we were given heavy work. That was the reason for the delay. We received severe pressure from the police and friends of Director Parthiban. We approached many vendors to complete the work. I gave work worth Rs 32 lakh to various vendors. I did not give three months’ salary to my team members,” said Sivaprasad.
He further said that he had filed a civil lawsuit against Parthiban before a civil court in Chennai and the hearing on July 9. “We demanded money from him for our hard work. We believe in the judiciary,” he added.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
