Jibraan Khan, who played Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s son in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, is about to make his full-fledged Bollywood debut with Ishq Vishk Rebound. The highly anticipated sequel to the 2003 released Ishq Vishk is heading for its release on June 21. The film is expected to explore love and its complexities through the lens of Gen Z. The rom-com features Rohit Saraf, Jibraan Khan, Naila Grrewal, and Hrithik Roshan’s cousin, Pashmina Roshan in the lead roles. Ahead of its release, the makers finally dropped the much-awaited trailer at a special event.
At the event, Jibraan spoke about playing Shah Rukh and Kajol’s son and said, “It’s been an honour and privilege to have played their child at such a young age. The amount of love which I got all these years is unconditional. Even today people give me that love. I just hope it continues with Ishq Vishk Rebound and InshaAllah whatever else happens in life. There is no pressure, but too much love.”
At the same event, Rohit Saraf was also asked about comparisons with Shahid Kapoor and his original Ishq Vishk. He said, “The comparisons have already begun. It started with the title track. It is an honour to be compared to somebody as legendary as Shahid Kapoor. I have been a huge fan of him over the years, especially with Ishq Vishk. I remember watching him dance to the title track. I have been in awe of how amazing a dancer he has been. Over the years, he has proven himself to be a phenomenal actor too.”
Ishq Vishk Rebound is one of the most-anticipated films, creating a lot of buzz among cinephiles. While the original Ishq Vishk starring Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao was released in April 2003, the ‘rebound’ is being released after nearly two decades.
Earlier in an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, Rohit Saraf spoke about Ishk Vishk Rebound and shared that he is not nervous about the film. The actor is rather excited to see how today’s audience will react to the movie. He shared, “I am actually very excited. Nervousness comes in just before a project is about to drop, but before that, there is just a ton of excitement. I am really looking forward to it. I feel like it is something that audiences will enjoy. My audience will enjoy.”
The actor also revealed that he will not be stepping into Shahid Kapoor’s shoes for the movie. He made it clear that the two movies have nothing in common except their names. “I am not stepping into Shahid (Kapoor)’s shoes. The only thing that the two films, Ishq Vishk and Ishq Vishk Rebound, hold in common is just the name. It is the franchise that is common. It is not stepping into anybody’s shoes. It is a very different story. It is a story about new-age love. It is a story about love and friendship in today’s world, in 2023,” Rohit said.
Ishk Vishk Rebound is produced by Ramesh Taurani of Tips Films. It is directed by Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari.
