When attending parties and socialising have been a part of life for most B-Town celebrities, Aamir Khan is among the few who are known for always managing to keep away from the glitz and glamour. Rightfully called the ‘perfectionist’, Aamir not only avoids parties but also remains away from any sort of event or award show. That being said, Aamir’s Khan ex-wife, Kiran Rao, is also known for maintaining a distance from the media, unless needed. As a result of this, their son, 12-year-old Azad Rao Khan, has not been exposed to the media much, unlike the other starkids.
Speaking on the same, Azad’s mother, Kiran Rao, recently said that as parents, they believe kids should be given their privacy.
Kiran Rao speaks on why son Azad Rao keeps away from media
In an interaction with Showsha, Kiran, while talking about her son, explained that Aamir and her distance from parties has helped Azad stay away from the paparazzi.
“I feel children should have their own privacy. Kids who are interested in coming in public then sure, but Azad was never really interested in big events. So, we let him have his privacy. Aamir and I, as people, are very unassuming. We are not the kind of glamorous people who go out and party or go to events quite frequently. I think it follows from the fact that we don’t go, so he doesn’t have a reason to be out and on the carpet,” she said, further adding that their son is not very interested in going out and that kids need to find their own areas of interest.
That being said, Rao also opened up about her son Azad Rao Khan’s interest in watching animation. “Initially, he used to be a little scared of films because they have heightened emotions and he is very sensitive, like a super empathetic kid. He used to get very affected. He found it very hard to watch live-action. He can watch animation but live action is close to him,” she added.
Kiran Rao-Aamir Khan relationship timeline
Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan got married in 2005 and became parents to their son Azad Rao Khan in December 2011. However, it was in 2021 that they mutually decided to part ways but continue to co-parent their son. Even after their divorce, Aamir and Kiran have been working and have also been seen attending family events together.
Not many know that the two have a very old association. Kiran started her career as an assistant director in Aamir Khan’s 2001 film Lagaan. Later, she scripted and directed his 2011 film Dhobi Ghat under Aamir Khan Productions.
